Camped at mile: 41.5
Hikers I camped with: 20+
Ending elevation: 5796'
Today's hike was short and easy, just 6 miles to Mt. Laguna where I would have to resupply and then stay the night. The hike was amazing, so pretty, much of this hike reminded me of Wisconsin as I hiked through pine trees and meadows. When you arrive in Mt Laguna you enter through a campground, seeing bathrooms and showers brought a smile to my face, but for now I was just passing through. When you leave the campground there are 3 points of interest, the restaurant, the outfitter and just a little farther up the road, the general store. I made a quick stop at the outfitter to look for a valve piece I needed for my drink system but he was all out. I walked outside and checked out the hiker box and what do you know, I found the piece I needed in the box. As the saying goes "the trail will provide". They also had free soda for hikers so I grabbed one and headed up to the general store.
When I walked up to the store I was greeted by Barbara and Justin, always nice to see familiar faces. There were a few others I had met on the trail which was great. We all claimed spots on the porch and started planning our food for the next section. The food at the store was a little pricey so I made simple smart decisions. They also had pizza slices they would heat up for you so you know I was all over that!
When I was done I headed back to the campground to find my friends and set up. We had half the day ahead of us to shower, do laundry (in the shower) relax, heal and head into town again for some pie.
Hikers kept floting in all day and by bedtime I think there were about 15 to 20 of us filling up 2 sites.
It was a great day.
